Workforce Webinar: Recruit and Retain the Best
Lori Porter, cofounder of the National Association of Health Care Assistants (NAHCA), an organization dedicated to elevating the professional standing and performance of caregivers through recognition, advocacy, education, and empowerment.
Lori began her career in long-term care more than 35 years ago. She started as a dietary aide before becoming a CNA for seven years. She served as a nursing home administrator for nearly seven years, followed by an operations director of 10 skilled nursing facilities in the Midwest. In 1995, she followed a dream and created NAHCA to honor and recognize CNAs and other frontline care providers.
The Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) is the proposed new Medicare payment rule for skilled nursing homes. PDPM is intended to replace the current RUG-IV system with a completely new way of calculating reimbursement. Under PDPM, therapy minutes are removed as the basis for payment in favor of resident classifications and anticipated resource needs during the course of an elder's stay.
